Louisiana oil spill

--Here are some of the national parks and wildlife refuges that are in the path of the spill, which threatens the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida:

PASS-A-LOUTRE WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA - LOUISIANA

The oil slick is likely to hit this reserve on Louisiana's southern-most tip near Venice first. The refuge is home to endangered species like the Brown pelican (the Louisiana state bird), the least tern, and piping plover.

BRETON NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE. LOUISIANA

This is the second oldest federal refuge, established by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1904 after the ardent conservationist learned about the plight of bird species due to human activity. These barrier islands are home to endangered species like the Brown pelican, least tern and piping plover, 23 species of seabirds and shorebirds light here, along with rabbits, raccoons and loggerhead sea turtles. It's home to 34,000 birds, including 2,000 pairs of pelicans, 5,000 pairs of royal terns, 5,000 pairs of caspian terns and 5,000 pairs of feeding, loafing and nesting gulls and other shore birds.

SANDHILL CRANE NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, MISSISSIPPI

The refuge's namesake is the long-winged crane, which nest here in mating pairs and whose hatchlings are born in April. It was established in 1975 after about 75 percent of birds' natural habitat was destroyed by timbering and farming.

GULF ISLANDS NATIONAL SEASHORE NATIONAL PARK, MISS./FLORIDA

This park's snow-white beaches and coastal marshes are home to 12 federally listed threatened or endangered species including the Perdido Key Beach Mouse.

GRAND BAY NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, MISS./ALABAMA

Established in 1992 the refuge holds one of the nation's biggest expanses of pine savanna. The diverse habitat also includes maritime forest, tidal and non-tidal wetlands, salt marshes, salt pannes, bays and bayous.

BON SECOUR NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, ALABAMA

French for "safe harbor," the 7,000 acres (2,833 hectares) of wildlife habitat are home to migratory birds, nesting sea turtles and the endangered Alabama beach mouse. Its dune-ridden beaches are nesting sites for loggerhead and Kemp's Ridley sea turtles. More than 370 species of birds migrate through the refuge, including ospreys and herons, also home to seven species of hummingbirds and animals like the red fox and coyote.

Picture frame Shots

More auction pics the frame at work

Picture Frame Laptop

Ok so I made one of these picture frame laptops.
I used win 98SE on a 233 with 64mb ram ..Really you do not need a lot of CPU or ram to do this project.I used a free program called slideshow wich has good setting and effects. I am now working on the wooden frame.. Pricing and asking around I am trying to get a custom build frame so I can put the power supply in the frame and have holes for the main power connector so I can detach the wire for awhile. I also would not mind having a sliding hole or door for USB and ps2 access just in case and for loading more pics on to it. Here are some pics now with more to come.

Tech defines what is this word

Phishing

Comes from the analogy that internet scammers are using email bait to fish for passwords and financial data from the sea of internet users. Since hackers have a tendancy of replacing "f" with "ph", the term phishing was derived. The term has evolved over the years to include not only obtaining user account details but access to all personal and financial data. (please don`t click links in your email..)

camgshing

The art or practice of searching google for online or IP based webcam, security cams, traffic cams and other various cams.

Linux tips 2

The Konqueror web browser is an altered to firefox or mozilla in linux with features like tabbed browsing changeing the browser identy and my new fav auto refresh so if you have a few web pages up you like or are bidding on different auctions you can keep them up and new.
sometime while running a live knoppix cd this option is not under the tools tab don't freak out here how to fix it.
goto the settings tab then click Configue Extensions then a window will come up and you click the tools button in there and check off one or both of the auto refresh buttons click apply and ok and load the tabbed or web browsing to get it going.

Linux tips Part 1

Adding Flash(thumb) drive support to a knoppix or related (debian) system.
it is so s1mpl3 open a simple text editor then open file then you may have to scroll back to your root folder or / then goto the etc or /etc folder and open the fstab file
just add this line in
/dev/usb0 /mnt/sda1 vfat user,noauto,exec,umask=000 1 0
that worked for my 64mb device or you may try
/dev/sda1 /media/sda1 vfat user,noauto,exec,umask=000 1 0
this is for the normal fat32 not ntfs (ill try to post about that later)
